Government Jobs

The federal government is the largest employer in the United States. Add to that the many levels of state, county, city, and other forms of government, and it is easy to recognize the huge potential here. The opportunities are endless.

Every possible job you could think of is an opportunity to do that job for a government agency and make a higher wage with better benefits and job security. Government agencies hire people with varying backgrounds and skills……or for that matter, no skills at all. Every Job you can think of from being a janitor, a cook, an engineer, a project manager, to anything in between can be done for the government.

The great benefit of working for the government is you don’t have to worry about a takeover or downsizing. Who has ever heard of the government downsizing? And you get the job security of having tougher guidelines for being able to fire someone. What this means is once you’re in, you’re in.

Everyone knows there is no better benefits packages than those obtained through government. And that is at all levels. Whether you are a cafeteria worker at a local elementary school or building roads for the highway department, you will have great healthcare, great vacation, and lots of federal holidays off. Tell me the last time you had presidents day off?

What about some of the more enjoyable jobs like the NPS? What is the NPS you might ask? That is the National parks service, a division of government that manages our many wonderful national parks, monuments, and other places. TSA, or Transportation security administration is another wonderful department always hiring. And another that I will only mention briefly here, because I will devote an entire page to it later is the USPS. Postal service jobs are the ultimate cake jobs.

Whether you are a twenty year professional, or new into the workforce, getting a job with the government is a smart career decision.

Below is a list of popular websites to begin your new career. These take you to some of the departments themselves, but if you want you can go straight to state or local government websites to apply for a job there or use one of the many third party firms to help you find a job in government.
